Downloading Songs from Kazaa isn't Really Free
Harking back to my 10th grade economics professor saying that nothing is ever free. Wired is running a story (who isn't) about MP3Concept, a Mac OS X Trojan horse.
Nearly half of the executable files downloaded through Kazaa contain malicious code like viruses and Trojan horses, according to a recent study by security firm TruSecure. Out of 4,778 files downloaded in one month for the study, nearly half contained various types of nefarious code.A previous article on Wired digs further into the Kazaa research.
It's been several years since I got tunes from a sharing service, not sure I would have noticed, but never would have guessed that it was more than music.
To say the music is free might be true in the sense that you didn't have to put up cash before the download, but it might end up costing in other ways.
