Thunderbird Mail and Universal Binary on Mac

Despite what the Thunderbird mail client release notes say, the current version of Thunderbird running on my Intel mac does not seem to be running in Intel mode.

Reading further down the notes and it appears that in order to get it to run the Intel binary you have to completely remove the previous version of Thunderbird (drag the Application icon to the trash).

Ah, that's better. I guess something about just dropping a new version on top of the existing Application (aka upgrading) makes the PowerPC-ness stick.
